Filamentary structures of ionized gas in Cygnus X

چکیده

Context. Ionized gas probes the influence of massive stars on their environment. The Cygnus X region ( d ~ 1.5 kpc) is one most star-forming complexes in our Galaxy, within which Cyg OB2 association (age 3–5 Myr and stellar mass 2 × 10 4 M ? ) has a dominant influence. Aims. We observe at 148 MHz using Low Frequency Array (LOFAR) take short-spacing information into account during image deconvolution account. Together with data from Canadian Galactic Plane Survey, we investigate morphology, distribution, physical conditions low-density ionized 4° (~100 pc 100 pc) resolution 2? (0.9 pc). Methods. radio emission analyzed almost entirely thermal (free-free) MHz, measures (EM) 3 < EM [pc cm ?6 ] 6 . As filamentary structure prominent feature emission, use DisPerSE Fil ChaP to identify ridges characterize radial profiles. Results. distribution profiles characteristic width 4.3 power-law ? = ?1.8 ± 0.1) peak down completeness limit 4200 electron densities range between ? n e [cm ?3 400 median value 35 , remarkably similar [N II] surveys gas. Conclusions. may ionize two-thirds total filaments. More than half structures are likely photoevaporating surfaces flowing surrounding diffuse (~5 medium. However, this not case for all ridges. A indicates that winds create fraction filaments through swept-up or dissipated turbulence.

Thermodynamic properties of the ionized gas 3He

In this article, we have calculated some thermodynamic properties for a system consisting of singy ionized 3He atoms and their corresponding removed electrons by employing the second quantization method at finite temperature. To perform the calculations, we have considered the kinetic term, and Coulomb interaction between the particles in our Hamiltonian. The calculated properties are free ener...

A Complete Relativistic Ionized Accretion Disc in Cygnus X – 1 3

The galactic black hole candidate Cygnus X–1 is observed to be in one of two X-ray spectral states; either the low/hard (low soft X-ray flux and a flat power law tail) or high/soft (high blackbody-like soft X-ray flux and a steep power law tail) state. The physical origin of these two states is unclear. We present here a model of an ionized accretion disc, the spectrum of which is blurred by re...

Temporal evolution of X - ray lags in Cygnus X - 1

We present the long term evolution of the frequency dependent X-ray time lags of the black hole candidate Cygnus X-1 as measured in 1996 and 1998 with the Rossi X-ray Timing Explorer (RXTE). Lag spectra measured during the 1996 June soft state are very similar to those seen during 1996 December and most of 1998 while Cyg X-1 was in its hard state. During state transitions, however, the shape an...

Radiative feedback from ionized gas

H2 formation in metal-free gas occurs via the intermediate H − or H+2 ions. Destruction of these ions by photodissociation therefore serves to suppress H2 formation. In this paper, I highlight the fact that several processes that occur in ionized primordial gas produce photons energetic enough to photodissociate H− or H+2 and outline how to compute the photodissociation rates produced by a part...

Dust Scattering Halos with Chandra Observations of Cygnus X - 3 and Cygnus X - 1

We improve the method proposed by Yao et al (2003) to resolve the X-ray dust scattering halos of point sources. Using this method we re-analyze the Cygnus X-1 data observed with Chandra (ObsID 1511) and derive the halo radial profile in different energy bands and the fractional halo intensity (FHI) as I(E) = 0.402×E keV. We also apply the method to the Cygnus X-3 data (Chandra ObsID 425) and de...
